日前，思科公司推出了14款网络安全产品和服务：3个安全管理的产品,3个VPN的硬件加速器，5个系统入侵检测模块(其中1个是检测桌面PC的安全问题、1个是检测服务器端的安全)，3个桌面PC的VPN客户端新版本。
据IDC的市场研究人员称，思科公司正在将自己的安全产品嵌入自己的路由器和其它系统。同时，在今年早些时候，思科分别以重金收购了两家研发网络安全产品的公司Okena和Pasionic。
这使人不禁要问，为何思科在这短短的几年时间里，要耗费如此巨资去全面进军网络安全产品市场呢？思科是怎么考虑的呢？
“实际上，思科公司很早就进入了网络安全市场，并在全球以及中国的网络安全市场上处于领导者的位置。思科在长期的网络搭建过程中，很早就发现了用户对安全的需求，从而开始为用户部署安全网络。思科公司投入了大量的人力财力用于对网络安全的研发,并为客户提供了全线的和网络安全解决方案及相应产品。”思科系统（中国）网络技术有限公司营销运作部产品市场经理周吉吉说道。
事实上，自上世纪九十年代中期以后，思科就逐步地在自身的路由器、交换机等网络产品内都加载安全的功能，但思科只是把这些安全功能作为对其路由器、交换机等网络产品功能的一项补充，并未能把网络安全作为一个独立的产品系列进行发展。
2002年7月，思科公司正式在中国全面推广自身的网络安全产品。思科希望通过宣传，让更多的人了解到，思科不但是网络专家，同时也是懂网络的安全专家。

Update to information on CD sleeve - Revised Minimum Requirement for Macintosh: The minimum RAM requirement for Macintosh is 64 MB.
Instructions for Usage:
Windows: Insert CD, launch the ClickMe.exe file to start. (Start/Run/Browse. Find ClickMe.exe file on your CD-ROM drive and click Open. Choose OK.)
Mac: Insert CD, launch the Click Me file to start.
1) Web Sites and Collateral
When you choose “Menu Options” from the top left corner of the main page for the first time, you will see a blue dialog box that gives you two choices.
To establish a network connection to the Internet before launching, choose option 1 in the dialog box.
“I would like to establish a network connection to the Internet before launching this CD so that I can access associate Web sites and the latest Cisco PDFs on the World Wide Web.”
If you are not able to connect to the Internet or would prefer to access only the PDFs on the CD, choose option 2 in the dialog box.
“I would not like to connect to the Internet. I realize that I will not be able to access associate Web sites and I will access only the Cisco and associate PDFs resident on the CD.
Cisco Secure Products and ServicesWeb Sites and Collateral
URLs - Cisco Secure URLs take you to Cisco’s Web site if you have an active Internet connection.
PDFs - Cisco Secure PDFs reside on the CD, but the CD will check Cisco’s Web site for a more recent version of these documents if you have an active Internet connection.
Cisco Security AssociatesWeb Sites and Collateral
URLs - Cisco Security Associate URLs take you to the associate’s Web site if you have an active Internet connection.
PDFs - Associate PDFs reside ONLY on the CD.
Note to Macintosh users: If you are using a Macintosh and launch PDFs, once Acrobat Reader has been launched, you must exit the Reader application before opening another PDF file. If not, the new document will not open.
2) Use these tips to put yourself in more control of your Cisco Secure and Cisco Security Associate CD demo experience.
When you move your mouse pointer onto the screen during a demo, a box appears in the lower left corner of the screen. It is accessible ONLY when your mouse is visible on the screen.
Mouse click on the box to perform these functions:
- Move to the next screen
- Move to the previous screen
- Go to a specific slide (choose from a list that slows slide # and slide title)
- View the speaker’s notes along with the slide
- Pause the demo
- Resume the demo (Note: when you resume the demo, the sound will not begin again until the next slide.)
- End the demo
3) The Cisco Secure and Cisco Security Associate CD works with both Windows and Macintosh operating systems.
System Requirements:
PC
Pentium, Pentium Pro, Pentium II with MMX, or Pentium III processor is recommended.
PC with an Intel or compatible processor or any MPC2-compliant PC (minimum 66 MHz 486 processor, but music may be affected)
Minimum of 32 MB of RAM
Windows 95, Windows 98, or Windows NT 4.0 system software
Sound blaster or compatible sound card and speakers
Browser recommended
If you do not have Acrobat Reader 4.0 installed on your system, you may be asked to install it.

4) Accessing files directly on the CD
If you prefer to open PDFs or launch demos without going through the CD user interface, the ppt and pdf subdirectories contain the Acrobat Reader PDFs and Powerpoint Slide Show files.
