Watching the grass grow can be frustrating. What more
should I be doing?
The biggest challenge facing anyone starting out in
affiliate marketing -- in my opinion -- is the feeling of
isolation.
I clearly remember how lonely I felt in the beginning,
building my first few sites in the basement and nervously
wondering, 'am I doing it right?'
Or, 'is this really going to work?'
Like you, maybe, I wasn't even sure if my 'pay-codes' were
properly imbedded.
I constantly fretted about whether the search engines would
rank me high enough to get traffic. And the wait for
indexing was almost unbearable at times.
What I needed was an example of success
In those early days, I would have paid thousands to anyone
with a proven track record if they would talk to me about
their 'real life' experience on the Net with affiliate
programs.
Wouldn't it be great, I thought, if I had such a mentor, and
I could get him (or her) on the phone every few weeks, just
to chat for a half hour or so.
What a confidence builder that would be, to hear about his
successes -- and failures -- first hand. Then, I wouldn't
have to be constantly wondering if there is light at the end
of the tunnel.
Just the fact of 'knowing' there was someone out there who
had a 'handle' on this business would have provided the
inspiration I desperately needed, as I started out with
affiliate programs.
And if there was some 'little thing' I needed clarification
about, he could easily set me straight, without wasting a
lot of time myself digging through the chat rooms and forums
to find out, -- followed, of course, by the inevitable
second guessing.
Just being able to pick his brain about how he sets goals
and stays motivated during the predictable 'rough spots'
associated with entrepreneurship would have been invaluable.
Because frankly, there were times when I felt like calling
it quits.

these days. And it would be difficult to deliver the
'flavour' of success on the Net using e-mail.
Then a comment by a business associate got me thinking.
He said, 'why not record some of my phone conversations and
convert them to 'streamable' audio, so that anyone with
speakers and a media player could listen as I talk about the
day-to-day aspects I encounter as a successful affiliate
marketer?'
It occurred to us both that I often discussed things in
casual conversations on the phone that could, conceivably,
alter your whole approach to affiliate marketing.
If for no other reason, than you could get an 'insiders'
peek into my business and personal life that has been
completely transformed, in a financial sense, by developing
high traffic web sites, as an affiliate for hundreds of
merchants in numerous industries.
And although these calls would require pre-recording, they
could be open-ended enough to allow for the spontaneity one
would expect when overhearing friends talking about the ups
and downs of their business.
To accommodate my travel schedule there is no fixed
schedule. But each edition will arrive by e-mail twice a
month, approximately every two weeks. The duration should
be about 30-40 minutes.
As a general rule, the shows are roughly divided into three
10-12 minute segments that each deal with one of three
aspects: inspiration, information and motivation.
